The most important relationship in any of our lives is, ultimately, the one we have with ourselves. Learning to love who we are, and embrace the beautiful body that carries us through life, is the most powerful form of love. Give yourself grace and kindness. Your body is worthy of being celebrated and nurtured. Self love sessions dive head first into self reflection and breaking down the barriers that keep us from truly appreciating all that we are.
"How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you."
For me, boudoir is often about quiet moments of connection and contemplation. Don't be surprised if there are times where I just have you sit, breathe deeply, look out a window and think about your day. I love capturing your natural in between moments. This process is just as intimate for me as it is for you. I pour my heart into giving you a safe space to create empowering art that represents your self love journey.
Here's what you can expect from your session...
I get it, these are intimate photos! You will have full control over what I do or don't share online. You get to choose what you are comfortable with. For Example: Anonymous only, no images, all images, select images. These are for you. If you want to keep your images private and for your own self use that is okay! I always ask before sharing.
Don't want your images shared online?
Don't worry girl, I've got your back! With every boudoir session booked, I love to get you on the phone before hand and help you through the entire process. Choosing what to wear to your boudoir session can cause a lot of anxiety around the experience and I want you to have a carefree, empowering experience, which is why I help ease your nerves before we get to the fun stuff.
Not sure what to wear to your session?
Well, guess what...
It is my job and my pleasure, to direct you in ways that I know will flatter you and bring out your individual beauty. You don't have to worry about practicing in front of the mirror to make sure you know your best angles. I don't expect you to show up to your session and start posing for me like a supermodel. Boudoir is about self expression, not perfection.
Worrying about how to pose yourself?
1. Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate.
I can't stress this enough. Your body needs water! It's good for your skin and helps reduce bloating.
2. If you are a waxer, make sure to wax no later than 4-5 days before your session to avoid redness, bumps or rashes.
3. Eat food. I know a lot of the time we think that not eating before getting photos taken will keep us from getting bloated, but it's actually proven to help prevent bloating.
Tips to being best prepared for your session
While I will never stop a client from bringing a friend or partner, it can be challenging to fully relax and enter into a space of pure vulnerability when there is an additional person present, observing. For this reason, I encourage my clients to come alone so long as they are comfortable.
"Can I bring a friend or partner, for support?"
You bet I do!
I focus on love in these sessions, and that can be self love or romantic love. The main theme around boudoir is intimacy. We are capturing the natural, real, and raw moments of your connection to your body. For a lot of people, that connection is shared with a partner, and I welcome that expression. Couple's boudoir can be a deeply personal experience that may even allow you the room to grow deeper within your love for one another.
"Do you do couple's boudoir?"
From initial contact all the way to keeping in touch on Instagram after your session, I am here for you! My favourite thing about my photography journey is that I have created lasting relationships with my clients. I strive to give my client's a unique experience that feels natural, effortless, and comfortable. The beautiful photos are just a bonus!
Kelly made it feel like the most natural thing in the world. I was so comfortable with her, I forgot I was wearing lingerie! She made me feel beyond sexy, sultry, and just let me feel good in my own body. She is such a wonderful soul, inside and out, and it was just a pleasure to create with her
Accentuating your best features is the focus for your session. Boudoir isn't always about revealing everything. I always spend a little bit of time close up, capturing your beautiful, and small unique features. I love working with light and shadows to create images that are sensual without being overly sexual.
Portrait and Headshot sessions are an expression of who you are. The images we create together should reflect what makes you, you. Every portrait session is different, because every portrait session is tailored to bringing out your unique personality and capturing the season of life that you are living through.
"She reminded me of my purpose throughout our session"
"If you are worried about your photographer not "seeing" you, or totally getting it, you don't have to worry about that with Kelly."
